As has been the case all season, there is little doubt about who sits atop SlamBall’s Power Rankings this week. Yes, it’s the undefeated Mob for the third straight week. Brendan Kirsch’s crew has yet to be seriously challenged, winning all 12 of their games by at least 13 points and nine by 20 or more. Last week, the Mob’s domination continued as they routed the opposition by 34, 33, 23, and 20 points. They lead the league in points per game (59.4), PPG allowed (32.0) and PPG differential (29.4). They are just four wins away from a perfect 16-0 regular season record.
The Buzzsaw, who went 1-2 last week and are 7-4 for the season, have held onto the No. 2 spot in the Power Rankings since they were introduced. However, every other position has undergone a change from last week.
The biggest riser is the Lava, who moved from the eighth spot all the way up to No. 4. They got into the win column in a big way on Sunday, downing the Rumble by 18 points and then the Ozone by 40 in the Main Event. The Lava and the Mob are the only two teams in the league who have scored more points than they have allowed. Those two squads will meet for the first time in Thursday night’s opening game at 8:00 p.m. PT on ESPN2.
Moving up one notch this week are the Wrath (No. 4 to No. 3) and Ozone (No. 7 to No. 6). The Slashers (No. 3 to No. 5), Gryphons (No. 5 to No. 7) and Rumble (No. 6 to No. 8) all dropped two places.
