Las Vegas, NV (July 24, 2023) – After thoroughly reviewing the altercations that occurred between Ozone and Wrath players and coaches during a joint practice last Thursday and in Saturday’s game between the two teams, the SlamBall Disciplinary Committee has taken decisive action. An undisclosed fine and a one-session suspension have been imposed on Ozone head coach Trevor Anderson and Wrath head coach James Willis, who were both ejected during Saturday’s game. The suspensions will be served in the next session involving each coach’s team.
SlamBall League statement:
“At SlamBall, we have always embraced the physicality and intense nature of the sport, but we firmly condemn the unacceptable conduct displayed by the Ozone and Wrath players and coaches in two separate incidents last week. While we have always celebrated rivalries and fierce competition, the behavior witnessed between the Ozone and Wrath has no place in our sport. It is essential that coaches in our league lead by example and work to de-escalate potentially volatile situations, rather than exacerbating them with their words and actions, as was evident in these cases.
“Moving forward, any further incidents of this nature involving the Ozone or Wrath will be met with more severe discipline for their respective coaches, up to and including the possibility of dismissal. At SlamBall, we remain committed to fostering a competitive yet respectful environment, one where players and coaches uphold the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship, ensuring that our fans can continue to enjoy the unmatched thrill of the game without compromising the values that make SlamBall a one-of-a-kind sports experience.”
