The Mob cruised to four victories last week, increasing their season-opening win streak to eight games and maintaining a firm grasp on the top spot in the SlamBall Power Rankings. They won a pair of games by 13 points on July 27 and then two more by 41 and 36 points on July 30. Brendan Kirsch’s crew has won half of their games by at least 35 points. They lead SlamBall in points per game (60.1), points per game allowed (32.8) and PPG differential (plus-27.3).
The Mob may face their stiffest challenge of the season on Thursday night, when they battle the 6-2 Buzzsaw, who are No. 2 in the Power Rankings for the second straight week. The Buzzsaw have made the Main Event in all four sessions they have been a participant, winning twice. The Slashers (4-3), who have made three Main Events (1-2), made the biggest upward move in the Power Rankings this week, going from No. 6 to No. 3. Losing four all four of their games by a combined 13 points, the Lava (0-4), made the biggest drop in the rankings, falling from No. 4 to No. 8. Their next chance to taste victory comes Friday afternoon against the Wrath (3-3), who rank fourth this week.
