Nathan Karsjens
Professional Career
The rough-and-tumble nature of SlamBall should suit Nathan Karsjens just fine. He is fresh off a six-year stint (2017-22) as a tight end and long snapper at Western Illinois University. In 33 career games for the Leathernecks, he caught 26 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns and made six tackles on special teams. He excelled in the classroom as well, making the Missouri Valley Football Conference Honor Roll three times, while receiving the MVFC’s President’s Council Academic Award in 2021 – the conference’s highest academic achievement. He was an all-around athlete at AGWSR High School in Ackley, Iowa, lettering four times in football and basketball, three times in track and once in baseball. Playing eight-man football at AGWSR High, Nathan Karsjens did it all, earning first team all-state honors as a punter while also playing quarterback and handling placekicking duties. He broke his high school’s discus record at the state track meet in his junior year, throwing 175-3, which surpassed the record by 19 feet. His last name is pronounced Car-shins.
